In this class Callum takes us though some of the exercises that helped him achieve near perfect clarity when he plays. From some of the very basic exercises to some more complex ones this class is all about building great technique.
In this session we talk about technique and it's very building blocks - syllables. Each technical piece has a syllable pattern that needs to match each other. Finally we talk about fusion of the short note into technical phrases. At the same time stressing both placement and clarity of the movement.
In this session we take a hard look at what doublings are made up of and how to improve them. We look at type A and type B doublings as well as learn an exercise to use with doublings for quality and placement.
In this class, we review the steps of all of the major embellishments that we see in tunes. Embellishments are really abbreviations encompassing melody notes and gracenotes, and we go through what each abbreviation means!
In this session we take a look at a classic 2/4 march - Highland Laddie. Many versions of this tune exist but we'll take a look at this setting and treat it with our usual rhythmic framework, layering of technique, and pulse.
