In this class, we look into this classic tune. We examine the value of ALAP/ASAP in tunes of this sort, and we also talk about how to simplify a tune to a "prelude" version, so we can practice good-quality music without the embellishments getting in the way.

In this lesson, you’ll learn your first bagpipe tunes! The following tunes are very commonly heard among bagpipers, and can be played using only G Gracenotes. In later chapters, you will learn to add in other gracenotes and embellishments to fill out each of these tunes. If you aren’t familiar with these melodies, it is very important that you listen through the examples on each of the Videos to familiarize yourself with the tunes. Not doing so will make it very hard to know what you are shooting for.

In this lesson, you’ll learn more bagpipe tunes. The following tunes are very commonly heard among bagpipers, and can be played using only the gracenotes that we have learned so far. In later chapters, you will learn to add in embellishments to fill out each of these tunes, but for now we will use the skills we have to put together these  simple, “prelude” versions. If you aren’t familiar with these melodies, it is very important that you listen through the examples on each of the Videos to familiarize yourself with the tunes. Not doing so will make it very hard to know what you shooting for.
