As we move deep into the major pipe band contests, here is a bit of vintage quality that was considered the top of the field in its day: Dysart & Dundonald at the 1974 World Pipe Band Championships. Bob Shepherd is at the helm for this 2nd place performance. Dysart was one of the more influential bands of the period up into the early 1980s, laying the musical groundwork for the 78th Fraser Highlanders and their 1987 win. The style is very aggressive for the day. While the style of playing and presentation has changed quite a bit over the years since then, the camera work in the Grade 1 circle, seemingly, has not.

Vin Janoski Vin is a long-time piper based on the east coast of the USA. He has been on the Executive Committee of the EUSPBA and been the editor of the acclaimed Voice magazine. Recently, he has played in the Grade 1 Oran Mor Pipe Band, and the Grade 1 Stuart Highlanders pipe band. He currently produces the websites Pipehacker.com and WhiskyTunes.com.... And, needless to say, he spends way too much time than is allowed for any one person playing, writing about, and thinking about bagpiping.
