We discuss pulsing, or the nuts and bolts behind the elusive word "expression". Using two different idioms (2/4 march and strathspey) we explore just what we mean by pulsing and what we need to do to master it as a weapon in the arsenal of excellent musicianship
In this class we build on the previous weeks' topics of ALAP/ASAP by adding in a study of good embellishment articulation with the Ewe. We talk a lot about proper placement and size of embellishments, all while in the context of never sacrificing good strathspey rhythm to do so.
In this session we go over three key strathspey principles that we will need before we can rip this classic apart. We talk at length about what a syllable is and how to treat short notes, technique and rhythms. More important than the tune is the approach. Enjoy!
