Winnipeg Forger - #05 [Vintage]

Course Name: Repertoire Expansion
Class Name: Winnipeg Forger, by Don Bradford
Class Instructor: Andrew Douglas
Date of Original Live Class: April 11th, 2012 at 7:30am

Description: This is a really cool round hornpipe by Don Bradford, former pipe major of the Strathclyde Police. It features very cool syncopation and "peles," or hornpipe triplings. Andrew breaks this tune down in a way that makes what used to look quite complicated now seem easy! This tune was performed by Field Marshal Montgomery on their "Unplugged" Album.

  1. Hi Joe - If you go into the recorded class, you'll actually see this pdf in our file box, as well as some mp3s to practice with! You can simply download them to your computer from there! Sorry for any confusion.

    1. The file box is not in the screen. I have video, attendees, chat, the music.pdf, and share 4 which says nothing is being shared. I have been able to download from the file box for Biddie from slago, stumpie, and the piob. classes.

  2. Don Bradford's book, "The Call to the Gathering", has this tune (Winnipeg Forger) along with some other great tunes. Anyone who enjoyed the tune and is adding it to their repertoire should purchase the book.

The story behind the tune's name is included in the book. Also included is a photo of the parties involved. The story starts with an unsigned check which originated in Winnipeg...

Thank you, Andrew, for the excellent presentation of the tune.

    - Lucas
