Daily Dose: Awkwardly Open...
Well, this is awkward! Can you control embellishments in your tune when they are played super open and controlled?
Embellishments and Embellishment Steps
Embellishments are rapid-fire groups of melody notes and grace notes that are used on a regular basis in bagpipe music. Embellishments are intended to make bagpipe music unique, complex, and exciting, but they require a great deal of practice and control in order to achieve this.
Each embellishment has a specific set of “steps” that need to be executed accurately (meaning no crossing noises and good grace note quality) AND evenly (each step played the same length; and quickly).
