Sharp (in pitch)

Most commonly in bagpipe craft, sharp refers to a note being tuned too high in pitch (slightly or significantly). However, a "sharp" is also a type of musical symbol (looks like a hashtag #) signifying that a note should be played one semi-tone higher than it would be in its "natural" state. The latter is rarely needed/discussed/required in order to play bagpipe music, so generally the term sharp refers exclusively to tuning.
