The Classical Era [Vintage]

Course Name: Music History for Bagpipers
Class Name: The Classical Era
Class Instructor: Matt Griffin (MFA)
Date of Original Live Class: Tuesday, July 10th, 2012 at 7:30pm

Description: Around the time the Jacobites fell, the ornate music of the Baroque era transitioned into the clean lines and compositional economy of the Classical era. We will look at how this related to the death of Bach, how Domenico Scarlatti helped usher in the change, and how Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, and Ludwig van Beethoven came to define (and in the latter two cases - redefine) this era.
