Jeff Haden set a goal to do 100,000 push ups and 50,000 sit ups in one year’s time. Why would anyone do that? It’s not important. What is important is the lessons Haden learned while grinding it out along the way. His overview of the process is a quick but inspiring read for anyone (like bagpipers) who wish to improve themselves and move forward through seemingly impossible and unpleasant tasks. And Haden does all of the things we bagpipers already know how to do, especially if you’ve immersed yourself in the Dojo U programming: break things down into small routines and tasks; have a structured plan and stick with it; trust your process to bring improvement even if it is not immediate. Even the impossible can become possible.

Vin Janoski Vin is a long-time piper based on the east coast of the USA. He has been on the Executive Committee of the EUSPBA and been the editor of the acclaimed Voice magazine. Recently, he has played in the Grade 1 Oran Mor Pipe Band, and the Grade 1 Stuart Highlanders pipe band. He currently produces the websites Pipehacker.com and WhiskyTunes.com.... And, needless to say, he spends way too much time than is allowed for any one person playing, writing about, and thinking about bagpiping.
