Exercises are a good way to improve your embellishments. But basic exercises tend to be monotonous and it’s easy to lose focus. You may also find that something you can play well in an exercise becomes rough once you find it in a tune. An easy way to solve this problem is to find a tune that has a lot of the embellishments you want to practice.
In this class we look at the second part of When the Battle's Over and then look at Steamboat. Steam boat is an excellent review of Arpeggios and Scale runs as the first part is made up entirely of both!
In this class we look at our first prelude tunes Rowan Tree and When the Battles O'er. This classic tune is a great work out for our sight reading of new material, working to fuze our G gracenotes and our foot, and dive into the classic bagpipe tunes!
